Year 2025
My part Instrumentation, data processing, clamp redesign
Result 24 channels, 1.2 million cycles logged
My first internship was in a test department, which is the best place a student can land: everything you assumed in a lecture gets checked against a real specimen.
I was responsible for the instrumentation - bonding and calibrating 24 strain gauges, wiring them into the logger, and writing the small Python script that turned a night of readings into a curve somebody could actually read. I also rebuilt the clamping end after we found it was flexing enough to contaminate the results.
Two of my measurements ended up in the internal report. Both of them were the ones that disagreed with the model.
