The department workshop was building frames one at a time and losing alignment every time the heat went in. I designed a jig that locates the head tube, bottom bracket and dropouts independently, so each joint can be tacked without releasing the others.
The hard part was not the geometry, it was the heat. My first version pulled 1.4 mm out of true because the fixture itself expanded. The second used a thinner clamping interface and a floating dropout stop, which took it to 0.4 mm across thirty frames - measured on a surface plate, not estimated.
It is still in the workshop and still being used, which I am more pleased about than the mark.
